Make Way for Ducklings - Robert McCloskey - 1941.
The Viking Press, New York 1941 - The August 1941 true 1st edition of this beloved Caldecott-winning tale of a family of ducklings who make Boston their home. INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR AND ILLUSTRATOR ROBERT MCCLOSKEY on the half-title page. Good+ in its beige cloth, with light soiling and scuffing at the panels and light wear to the tips. In a beautiful, unususally crisp, Near Fine example of the 2nd issue dustjacket (with the Caldecott stickers but also with the original "2.00" price). A child has clearly loved this copy and internally, while still very clean and bright, there are several instances of light ink or pencil (as, for example, at the front pastedown). Tall quarto, wonderfully illustrated thruout by Mc Closkey. Presentable and very scarce as such (signed by the author in its original printing). Signed by Author. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover]
[Bookseller: APPLEDORE BOOKS, ABAA]
