Small quarto, brown half calf by Riviere, yellow cloth boards, black morocco label, gilt decorations and lettering, a.e.g. A tract by Edmund Burke on the economics of farming and in particular the grain shortage that was crippling English agriculture in 1774 and 1775, causing tremendous hardship to farmers. Burke eloquently, as usual, argues against government interference in the form of assistance programs and burdensome administrations that would bring about. Burke's argument was published posthumously by those who opposed similar measures that were being proposed in 1800.
