The Letters. Edited and with an introduction - LAWRENCE, D. H - 1932.
London: William Heinemann, Ltd., New York: The Viking Press. Inc., 1932 - Octavo. Original vellum, titles to spine and design to front in black. With the publisher's card slipcase. A few trivial marks to vellum, light cockling within, an excellent copy, with the slipcase split and lacking the lower edge. First edition, presentation copy, number 183 of 250 copies for sale in Great Britain (a further 250 copies were for sale in the US, and 25 hors commerce), inscribed by Aldous Huxley on the front free endpaper, "'Lawrence's special & characteristic gift was an extraordinary sensitiveness to what Wordsworth called "unknown modes of being."' For O. J. Kadlee with all good wishes, Aldous Huxley. October 1932". This title is very scarce thus inscribed by Huxley, the editor, and highly desirable with Huxley quoting himself so pointedly. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy]
[Bookseller: Peter Harrington. ABA member]
