Printed in Paradise, 1624 [for London: John Beale?], 1624, 1624. First edition, second issue with two typographical errors corrected. STC 22084a; ESTC S123283, which records four locations in the U.K. and six in the U.S.. Edges a little rubbed; some light foxing; very good copy, with wide margins.. Quarto, modern olive-green calf, blind rules and gilt lettering. Fictitious letters from Robert Devereux, Earl of Essex (1565-1601), defending his military campaigns and actions under Elizabeth's reign, written by the prolific pamphleteer and polemicist Thomas Scott. In 1826 Scott wrote a similar piece about Raleigh, Sir Walter Rawleigh's Ghost, or, England's Forewarner. Small book-label of Louis H. Silver on the front paste-down, below which is the bookplate of Robert S. Pirie.
