These winsome stories are among Barrie's earliest published writings, gems from his literary apprenticeship; they helped establish him as "fashionable and best-selling" (Carpenter & Prichard, 46), and paved the way for the novels and plays""especially those starring his most famous character, Peter Pan""that won him enduring fame.
