Title of second part begins: Complementum Lexici Perfecti: Coronidis Vice, Ne Quid Omino Deesse Videatur, Adjectum. Main texts in parallel columns. Quarto (9-1/4" x 6-1/4"). Recent period-style quarter calf over marbled boards, raised bands, lettering pieces and blind ornaments to spine, endpapers renewed. Title page printed in red and black, woodcut head and tail-pieces. Moderate toning, occasional light foxing, faint dampstaining to margins, inkstains to a few leaves. Small early owner signature to title page, interior otherwise clean. A handsome copy. $850. * Later edition. Edited by Denis Godefroy and Hermann Vulteus, who added prefaces. Calvinus was a German jurist and professor of law at the University of Heidelberg who wrote several books on politics, Jewish law and Roman law. The Lexicon Juridicum proved to be his most honored and durable publication. First published in 1600, it went through numerous editions during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
