Illustrated with 7 plates (one folding) and one folding map. Marbled leather boards bordered in gilt. Darkened spine has gilt lines with black leather title label on spine. Restored. Outer joints and inner hinges repaired. (Boards were probably detached at one point). Leather on spine stabilized. Original end sheets with the armorial book plate of James Brodie of Brodie, Esq. (a Scottish politician and Botanist 1744-1824) on front paste down. Interior contents in fine condition. First U.K. edition after the Philadelphia 1791 first edition. Bartram's classic account of southern natural history, native Americans and exploration in the southeastern states during the American Revolution period.
