THE DWELLER IN THE HALF-LIGHT - Wray, Roger (pseudonym of James William - 1920.
Odhams Limited n.d. ., London - Octavo, pp. [1-8] 9-320, original red cloth, front panel stamped in black and blind, spine panel stamped in black. First edition. "Complex supernatural romance, in which psychic girl's love for 'a complete bounder' leads to projection of his image as an idealized dream-lover, a sort of Doppelganger cum vampiric incubus. Structured as a mystery, true nature of haunting only gradually revealed. Subtle, thought-provoking, intriguing use of dreams; oddly gentle conception of Doppelganger's nature seems to anticipate Jungian animus/anima theory. A superior weird thriller of the period, equal to better known classics such as Kerruish's THE UNDYING MONSTER (1922)." - Robert Knowlton. Locke, A Spectrum of Fantasy, p. 235. Reginald 15634. Not in Bleiler (1948; 1978). Cloth just a bit soiled, slight spine lean, a very good copy. A nice copy of a very scarce book. (#156031) [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
