Covers somewhat warped. Antiquarian bookseller's record describing this book pasted onto rear pastedown. Insert rather foxed and dampstained. Old inkstain in the text on pp. 45-46 and some supplementary old ink decor in the concluding typographical vignette on p. 162. Bookplates of Per Wahlström and Curt Wallin. Martinus Martinius (1614-61) "De bello Tartarico" was first published in Latin in Rome in 1654 and the writer was responsible for the Catholic mission in China. Ambrosius Svenonis Nidelberg (dead 1689) translated a few other travel books, which were printed by Kankel. Johann Kankel (1614-87) was born in Pomerania and came to Sweden in 1664. From 1666 until his death managed Per Brahe the younger's private printing office on Visingsö in Lake Vättern in southern Sweden. 1674 was his most productive year and all in all Almquist lists seven printed works from this year, comprising around 640 printed pages. The bookplate of the Swedish publisher Per Wahlström (1860-1932) is designed by Arthur Sjögren. This copy was sold through Björck och Börjesson katalog 305 for 75 Swedish crowns.
