A series of autograph letters to Rolando - MURDOCH, IRIS - 1976. [1227719]
23 pages, Oxford, v.d. 1976-1993 - Comprising: 16 a.l.s., one a.p.c.s. (and one signed contract) from the Booker Prize-winning (and five times short-listed) author to Rolando Pieraccini, proprietor of the Helsinki-based Eurographica Press, concerning his publication of Murdoch's "Something Special: Four Poems and a Short Story". Discussing the various stages of editing, production and publication in surprisingly thorough style (for an author who was notorious for throwing away proofs of her own works without reading them) and digressing on a number of subjects. "About Finland - yes, I have been once to Helsinki and loved it. I arrived by boat from Sweden, travelling through the night - only there was no night (it was `white nights', late May) - we danced all night on deck - and then saw the domes and spires of Helsinki coming up over the horizon!" "I am afraid I do not know much about Barbara Pym. I have read and enjoyed two of her novels. Sorry! I think she is a good novelist. She is very witty & observant of human nature." In excellent condition. [Attributes: Signed Copy]
