Fisher, Son & Co., London. 1836 - 3 Volumes in 1 complete. 117 steel engraved views after William H. Bartlett and William Purser and others + Two maps and 3 engraved title pages. All plates have their original tissue guards, and each part has a separate title page numbered 1-3. The descriptions of the views are by John Carne. It also has the 3 advertisement leaves. AEG. Bound in a full crushed morocco with scroll and geometric design in gilt to the covers and spine & gilt ruled borders. The plates are still surprisingly fresh and above average. There is some very mild foxing to plate edges and a line of atmospheric damp to 2 of the last few plates, this is also mild and not pronounced. An unusual and a pleasant surprise in a work notorious for plates of this period not having been restored or broken from the book itself. Large heavy quarto. Untouched. Very Good+ 1836. * This copy has the armorial bookplate inside front board of "Sir Charles Nall-Caine" Of Brocket Hall. Buckinghamshire. Once the home of Lord Melbourne, (William Pitt) who was Queen Victoria's Private Secretary on ascending the throne. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
