London London Printing Co. n.d. circa 1856 - 3 volumes, in 6 original parts, 4to, 3 additional engraved titles with vignettes, 22 engraved portraits, 34 engraved plates of views, battles, etc., 7 maps and plans including 6 folding (4 by Tallis: Crimea, Turkey in Europe, Baltic Sea, Black Sea), 1 plate frayed, original red cloth gilt, gilt pictorial blocks to covers and spines, a nice bright set. This edition published as part of England's Battles by Sea & Land and one of vignette title-pages is replaced by that of the general title. As is often the case with serial publications, there is a difference between the plates listed and the plates in the book. The present copy does not have one of the vignette titles as mentioned above, 2 portraits (Bentinck and Teesdale),and 2 battle scenes (Capture of Malakhoff and Guards defending redoubt at Inkermann). It does however, contain views of Sebstopol and Constantinople, a portrait of Hardinge, and a battle scene (removing the wounded) not called for in the list of plates.
