Translated from the French, printed at Brussels in 1691. and dedicated to his present Majesty William King of England, &c. Published in English by R. B. FIRST ENGLISH EDITION 1693, 12mo, approximately 145 x 85 mm, 5¾ x 3¼ inches, splendid frontispiece of William III on horseback engraved by F. H. V. Hove, pages: , 174,  - catalogue of books printed for Nathaniel Crouch, Dedicatory Epistle to King William signed by T. Leonard. Bound in full early leather, raised bands to spine and 2 gilt lettered red morocco labels. Corners slightly worn, other extremities slightly rubbed, armorial bookplate of the Irish Comerford family with the name James Comerford on the front pastedown plus tiny early bookseller's label, title page and frontispiece slightly browned, small ink name at top of title page, small old paper repair to reverse of fore-edge of title page, margins slightly trimmed, occasionally affecting a catchword, 3 tiny corners missing, 2 with loss of 1 word but easily understandable, all pages lightly age-browned. A good tight copy of a rare interesting book. Possibly translated by Nathaniel Crouch whose pseudonym was Richard or Robert Burton or R. B. The author claims that all the events narrated are true history taken from the best histories, memoirs, voyages, and other famous works that had lately appeared. The narratives concern the Chinese, the Turks, Transylvania, the European Emperor, the French and the Spaniards in the Virgin Isles, the Dutch and the Algerians in sea battles, several eventful voyages to the East Indies, China, Canada, West Indies and various wars.
