The first Sheet included in ye Map of Tibet - DU HALDE, Johann Baptiste - 1741. 
1741 - London: T.Gardner for E. Cave, 1738-41. Coloured. 9 sheets each approximately 330 x 480mm. The first large scale map of Tibet and Western China, made up of nine separate sheets. This highly comprehensive eighteenth century map of the region was compiled from extensive Jesuit surveys carried out in 1717. The Jesuits used maps prepared by "Lama Mathematicians" as a basis. Engraved by Emanuel Bowen, this is from an English Edition of Du Halde's 'Descriptions De La Chine'.
