Phoenix Press Publishers ., New York - Octavo, pp. [1-8] 9-255 [256: blank], original red cloth, front and spine panels stamped in black, top edge stained yellow green, fore and bottom edges rough trimmed. First edition. Novelization of the 1940 film starring Albert Dekker as the ruthless mad scientist in the Peruvian jungle who uses radioactivity to miniaturize living things, including human beings who are reduced to one fifth of their natural size. The novel, often attributed to, but not by, Henry Kuttner, was perhaps written by Alexander Samalman. Kuttner did write a shorter magazine version from the film script which was published in THRILLING WONDER STORIES, June 1940. Reginald 08491. A fine copy in very good dust jacket with shelf wear along top and bottom edges, rubbing along spine and flap folds, several closed edge tears, and internal tape mends at spine end. A nice copy overall. (#130721) [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
