FIRST EDITION 1887, EDITION LIMITED TO 100 COPIES, 4to, approximately 370 x 270 mm,14½ x 10¾ inches, chromolithographed armorial bearing on title page heightened with gilt belonging to the Clifford family, 24 superb chromolithographic plates of Chinese export armorial porcelain, including plates, tea and coffee pots, jugs, vases, mugs, saucers etc., some heightened with gold, printed one side only, each with caption below, and a brief description on a preceding leaf. Beneath each caption is printed: W. Griggs, photo-chromo. Originally issued in 6 parts, the blue printed wrappers are bound in at the back, no pagination or signatures. Rebound to style in modern quarter mottled vellum over blue cloth sides, gilt dividing lines and gilt lettered spine. Tipped in notice for subscriptions lightly foxed, light browning and 2 tiny chips to top edge of 1 leaf, neatly repaired, small pale mark to a couple of margins, 2 tiny closed tears to fore-edge of 1 plate neatly repaired affecting margin only, final colour plate has 3 closed tears, maximum 80 mm (3¼"), neatly repaired, none affecting the image, plus a small pale brown stain which just slightly affects the image, 2 of the bound in wrappers slightly damaged with no loss of printed area.
