The Life and Adventures of Martin Chuzzlewit - Dickens, Charles - 1844. 
Chapman and Hall, London, 1844. - First edition. XIV, (2), 624 pp. + 1 frontispiece, 1 engraved title-leaf and 38 plates. Contemporary, green half leather binding with gilt edges and lavishly gilt spine with five raised bands. Owner's book-plate on paste-down endpaper. Corners and spine ends bumped and rubbed, head of spine with tiny chip. A couple of pages with tiny tears at the upper edge, the plates with some foxing. Early (first?) issue of the first edition. Errata slip has thirteen lines (later printings are supposed to have 14 lines), with a total of ten corrections. The reward notice on the signpost depicted on the engraved title leaf says 100£, which (according to Eckel, p. 73) is supposed to indicate that the book (or at least the title leaf) was printed before the artist corrected it to £100.
