A voyage round the world; but more particularly - Captain Nathaniel Portlock - 1789.
John Stockdale and George Goulding, London 1789 - Embellished, the title-page continues, with twenty copper-plates. One of these is missing and two pages have had strips torn out of them. Otherwise it's all there. Some of the folding plates have been improperly folded for a century or two. The front board and first half-a-dozen or so pages are detached, and there is no spine. It has been very roughly handled, and all external surfaces and edges are rubbed and grubby, with evidence of damp damage. There is not much foxing, mainly confined to the pages opposite the plates. In spite of all this it could be rebound and not look at all bad. Further pictures available on request. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
