The manuscript is signed and dated 4 April 1979 by Vonnegut on the second leaf. A Seymour Lawrence business card with brief note to Jerome Klinkowitz returning the manuscript "for your files" is paper-clipped to the first leaf. The manuscript comprises thirteen articles, some revised from earlier publication, providing an assessment of Vonnegut the public figure and literary phenomenon and Vonnegut's writings and literary significance twenty years after the publication of PLAYER PIANO (1952), his first book. It includes the text of an October 1966 interview with Vonnegut by Robert Scholes and a bibliographical checklist of primary and secondary material. "Valuable for its perspective at a relatively early point in Vonnegut's career." - Anatomy of Wonder (1995) 9-124.
