The Cultivation of Christmas Trees. Illustrated - ELIOT, T. S - 1954. [1205513]
London: Faber and Faber, 1954 - Octavo. Original pale blue printed wrappers. With the original printed envelope. Wrappers slightly toned and with a couple of small stains. An excellent copy together with the lightly toned envelope with splits along two sides and lightly nicked and creased extremities. One colour illustration by David Jones. First edition, first impression. Presentation copy inscribed by Eliot for Polly Tandy on the title page: "For Pollyma'am and her Christmas tree and all who surround it, from T. Possum 1954". Doris "Polly" Tandy was the wife of Geoffrey Tandy. Eliot was close with the Tandies and their three children, visiting frequently and exchanging numerous letters. Polly and Eliot's friendship appears to have been very affectionate, with Eliot often referring to Polly as "Pollytandy" or "Pollitandy". [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy]
