Occasionally the binding is loose but always intact and functional. Pages are clean, strong, and still bright. Ex-library stamps and labels. Dom Martene was an emminent member of the Benedictine Congregation of St. Maur and received his training from Mabillion and d'Archey at St. Germain-des-Prais, later locating mainly at St. Remy in Rheims. He devoted his work and studies to topics associated with the Maurist edition of the Church Fathers that was in production, as well as mainly liturgy and the history of the Benedictine Order. Like Mabillion and others, he traveled around Europe to the great abbatial libraries to assist in his publications. Volume contains prefatory material including approbation letters from members of the Roman Curia, authors' prefaces, and indices. The first volume is entitled De Ritibus Sacramentorum Administratione Observatis and contains seven chapters: I: De Ritibus Baptismi, II: De Ritibus ad Confirmationis Sacramentum Spectantibus, III: De Eucharistica ut est Sacrificium in Genere, IV: De Singularibus Sacrae Liturgiae Ritibus, V: De Ritibus ad Eucharistiam Extra Sacrificium Spectantibus (private mass?), VI: De Ritibus Sacramentum Poenitentiae Spectantibus, VII: De Ritibus ad Sacramentum Extreme-uncionis Spectantibus. This work was originally published in our books, here presented is Volume I of 3. Lacking is Book II: De Monachorum Ritibus Libri V denuo illustrati and Book III: Manuscriptorum Opusculum, ad Monachorum Ritus Appendix. Illustrations. [Attributes: Soft Cover]
