Original press releases distributed by Kennedy's press secretary Pierre Salinger's office, including: JFK's speech at the ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, given at the Lincoln Memorial, September 22, 1962 (2pp); White House Special Message on Civil Rights, February 28, 1963, delivered as a written statement to Congress, rather than a speech, and reviewing accomplishments and outlining goals on civil rights (11pp); "Remarks of the President on Nationwide Radio and Television," June 11, 1963, JFK's famous "Civil Rights Address" to the nation presenting his civil rights legislation, delivered in the aftermath of the National Guard being called in to protect two students enrolling at the University of Alabama, and on the very night on which Medgar Evers would be murdered in Jackson, Mississippi (5pp); "Message on Civil Rights and Job Opportunities," June 19, 1963, JFK's follow-through, detailing the contents of his Civil Rights Act of 1963, delivered on the day of Evers's funeral (13pp).
