The History of the Damnable Popish Plot - CARE, Henry (1646-1688) - 1681.
London: Printed for B.R.L.W.H.C., 1681. - SECOND EDITION. Crown Octavo. pp. xiv, 343. Recently re-spined using original brown calf boards. New brown calf spine with raised bands nad gilt titles to red calf label. Browning; prelims somewhat brittle. Black ink stamp of the American Congregational Association to title page. Original boards very heavily worn, especially to corners. Good overall. Editor of the 'Weekly Pacquet of Advice from Rome', Care was a notorious anti-Catholic writer. The so-called 'Popish plot' of 1678 even gave him an excuse to write against the established Church of England - "who could have thought it possible, that these Kingdoms should again have been in danger from the so-oft-defeated Popelings!" [Attributes: Hard Cover]
