Abbreviations as used in the courts of Kings - OLLYFFE, Thomas - 1685. [1204011]
ESTC T135970 (2 copies); Heal, English writing-masters, pp. 81-82; WorldCat (5 copies). Wholly engraved English dictionary of calligraphic abbreviations of Latin words. It comprises 600 abbreviations in the court hand, with their significations written out in full in engrossing and secretary hands. The work was published by the writing master-master Thomas Ollyffe (fl. 1685- ca. 1725), who was an expert in these hands used at court. The gothic court hand is difficult to read, so that the book remains a valuable aid for anyone studying documents in that hand. Very good copy, upper margin slightly frayed and title-page a bit thumbed.
