Cassell 1951 - The First UK Printing published by Cassell in 1951.The BOOK is in near FINE condition.Very light toning and spotting to the text block - Far less than usually encountered.Free from inscriptions and erasures.One small (partial) stamp of the Times Bookshop to the lower rear pastedown.The WRAPPER is complete and is in near FINE condition.Mild edge wear more pronounced at the spine ends.A little rubbing at the fold fold tips.The scarce Book Society Promotional Band is complete and is a little creased in places.Some short closed tears with a little toning to the spine portion.The wrapper and band look very striking in the removable Brodart archival cover.The finest novel of the Royal Navy in WWII and a maritime classic.The story, based upon the author's own experiences, formed the basis of Charles Frend's notable feature film starring Jack Hawkins in one of his most memorable roles.A very scarce title to find as a First edition more-so with the Promotional Band.The first time we have encountered the latter.
