Henry Carey Baird & Co, Philadelphia 1882 - Octavo. 388pp., (1)pp., author's ad for Aniline Colors, 24pp. publisher's catalog. Contains 176 mounted dyed samples of material within the text of the best American, English, French, and German processes for bleaching and dyeing silk, wool, cotton, linen, flannel, felt, dress goods, mixed and hosiery yearns, feathers, grass, felt, fur, wool, and straw hats, jute yarn, vegetable ivory, mats, skins, furs, leather, etc. by wood, aniline and other processes. A lovely copy bound in blue-green embossed cloth, spine gilt, floral endpapers. Front inner hinge has been superbly repaired (invisible to the eye). One wrinkle with tiny closed tear to page 131. The binding looks as new because it was purchased with an old cloth cover, and after removing the cloth, the corners had metal protectors which helped this binding to never receive a bumped corner. The corners are sharp and binding magnificently bright. Quite rare in this condition. [Attributes: First Edition]
