Karl Baedeker, Leipzeig 1914 - " Russia with Teheran, Port Arthur and Peking" with 40 Maps and 78 Plans - Karl Baedeker Publisher , Leipzig, 1914, First and only English edition. 8vo, approx 160mm x110mm, bound in publisher's red blind decorated cloth, gilt lettering to upper cover and spine, all maps and plans extant,( The General Map of Russia has a small tear ( see images) other coloured maps and plans bright and intact. 590 pps, index, plus "distances and money table conversion chart" at front. Included is the original Dust Jacket ( see images) which has one detached flap the other hanging on "by a thread" ( dust jacket condition fair at best), however the dust jacket has successfully done the job for which it was designed and has left the book in very good condition indeed. ( see images). Bound in publisher's red decorated cloth, gilt lettering upper cover and spine, marbled edges, externally the blind stamped boards are in exceptionally good order. (see images). Internally the binding is tight and the pages are generally very clean with the odd mark one might expect with a book of this age. There are some minor pencil annotations on pages 351,407 and 416 ( see images for an example and for a general example of internal condition). Original silk book marks are extant although one is detached. ( N.B on the detatched flap of the dust jacket there is an interesting inscription with a name and note which makes mention of the famouus newspaper "Kievlyanin" which survived the Revolution" see photos. Overall a very attractive copy indeed. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
