Book - in Good half leather binding and marbled paper covered boards with gilt decoration and gilt lettering on a black label to the spine - some surface loss to the spine decoration. Contents, some grubbiness to the yellow paste downs and free end papers, some scattered browning to a few pages, see scan of one of the worst affected pages, page 40/41, slight marking to the occasional page, previous owner's book plate to front paste down of 'Frederick H H Glasse, with the Glass family motto luctor non mergor. During a long naval career he commanded HMS Vulture in the Crimea and retire with rank of Admiral. A second name and date 'xmas 1940' has been added to the bookplate. A lovely copy of this rare and important record of Britain's early efforts to suppress the slave trade.
