Ohne den 1653 erschienenen, 86 Seiten umfassenden Ergänzungsband. - "At least five printings attest to the usefulness of such a dictionary, in which the dark phrases of chemists were ordered and classified" (DSB). - Johnson lebte in der Mitte des 17. Jahrhunderts als Chemiker in London. Er war ein Anhänger von Paracelsus und mit alchemistischen Begriffen wohl vertraut, wie sein obiges Werk belegt. "Johnson was placed among the early followers of Helmont but later was considered a traitor by the dogmatic iatrochemists" (DSB). - Titel mit alten Besitzeinträgen.
