Bound in modern half sprinkled calf with marbled boards, spine ruled in blind with red morocco gilt label. The first book by Wagstaffe (c. 1633-1677), “a rather cynical account of the means by which papal hegemony was achieved at the expense of the susceptible barbarians in the early middle ages” (ODNB).
