      Privately printed, New York, first edition, 1919. Complete but partially disbound with middle section of textblock separated. Slight wear to head and tail of spine. Will be in good shape once recased in the original cloth or a new binding. Cloth, 8vo, 26 cm, [iv], 482 pp. A scarce catalogue of the pre-1641 books (1) in English, (2) by British authors (in any language) and (3) printed in Great Britain (irrespective of language and nationality of author) In Huntington's library. Entries are quite short ( so the "brief" catalogue is the more remarkable for extending to 482 pages) but give author, title, imprint, format, signatures and provenance. The checklist was compiled for circulation to leading libraries and collectors, with two copies sent to each of them in order that one could be retained and one returned annotated in the wide righthand margin with corrections and additional information based on their own holdings. This copy is evidently one of those retained, since it has no such annotations.
