[Original engraving of an Italian folkdance 18th century from the Abruzzo mountains of central Italy]. 10 3/8" x 8 5/8", wide margins. Good condition. A graceful and energetically engraved print by Aloja, after a drawing by Giulio Maria Milani. Milani was known for his architectural drawings in the style of Pietro da Cortona (Bryan. Dict of Painters and engravers). Bartolomeo Pinelli (1781-1835) uses an almost identical subject in a later aquatint, often reproduced, (see, for example his "Uomo e Donna del Paese di Rivisondoli. Acquaforte" reproduced on the website of the Museo del Costume, Sulmona).
