HUNTING.)
Hunting vindicated from cruelty, in a letter to the Monthly Reviewers. "Spitzbergen
[i.e. London?]: printed for the benefit, if any, of the whippers-in; and sold by B. Law, London; R. Trewman, Exeter; and M. Haydon, Plymouth 1782 - 8vo., [5],6-30,[2, blank]p. With half title. Old but not original wrappers. Preserved in a cloth folder, morocco spine label. With the Swerdt and Duke of Gloucester bookplates. First edition. Not in ESTC on-line. Schwerdt I, p.260. Exceedingly rare. A spirited defence of hunting hares by the use of greyhounds, written in reply to a reviewer who had called all hunters "Barbarians." The "Spitzbergen" imprint is a curious one, and an odd choice for a spurious imprint. [Attributes: First Edition; Soft Cover]
