      London The Folio Society 1990. - Octavo Size. Very Good + condition in a Very Good +Slipcase. These 3 volumes are all bound in full off-white elephant-hide. Volume 3 [The Return of the King] has small faint stain to lower edge which given the mottled nature of the boards is not very noticeable. This volume also has a light crease to spine. All 3 volumes have previous owner's discreet blind stamp to the corner of the title page. Apart from these flaws the books are in exceptional condition. Black and white illustrations by Ingahild Grathmer [Queen Margarethe of Denmark] and drawn by Eric Fraser. Maps to endpapers. Three volumes, The Fellowship of the Ring [459 pages], The Two Towers [372 pages], The Return of the King [487 pages] In 1977 this edition was produced by the Folio Society and was a landmark in its own right as it was the first ever illustrated edition approved by the Tolkien Estate. 1st thus edition.
