1525 [MANUSCRIPT LEAF]. Original leaf from Flemish Book of Hours, in Latin. Two initials, one blue, one red, 19 lines of text in black and red ink in a Gothic liturgical hand. 8vo., 203 x 145 mm, (7 1/4 x 5 1/4 inches), on vellum, matted and framed. [Flemish: Ghent-Bruges School, ca. 1500-1525]. An exquisite Flemish illuminated leaf displaying border painting of a very high quality. The leaf consists of a liquid gold ground border onto which is painted images of convolvulus, daisies and cornflowers in blue, pink, red, white and lavendar on green leafy stems, interspersed are two birds, a butterfly and a snail resting on a strawberry.
