Contemporary three quarter green morocco and marbled boards, spines gilt extra, t.e.g. Illustrated with over two hundred engraved plates (some folding or double-sheet) and portraits. Extremities rather rubbed, but sound, intermittent foxing and tanning, affecting the image portions of some of the plates, old shallow tide- mark affecting fore-edge of some leaves in the first volume; a sound set, but not a bright one. Second edition, enlarged and indexed, of the work originally undertaken by Grose from 1775 - 1784. A massive compendium of antiquarian lore, documents, legal and military history, and curiosities.
