Finely bound by The Chelsea Bindery in full red morocco, boards decoratively panelled in gilt, the front cover of each volume set with an oval miniature under glass, spine decoratively tooled and lettered in gilt in compartments, board edges and dentelles decoratively tooled in gilt and blind, matching red silk doublures and liners, all edges gilt. Housed in red cloth solander boxes. Title vignettes and six wood-engraved plates. The miniatures show a portrait of Stowe in volume one and a scene from the book in volume two.
