Hans Lufft 1530, Wittemberg (Wittenberg) 1530 - The New Testament of Martin Luther. Three pages [1 1/2 leaves] are replaced in attractive old manuscript; two pages in Matthew, and one page in Revelation. Numerous full page woodcuts thru the text, including one of each of the Apostles at the beginning of the Gospels. There are 23 beautiful full-page woodcuts that accompany the Book of Revelation. Also contains some contemporary marginal notes. Contemporary owner's signature is on the title page. Binding is tight. Later, probably late 19thc. half leather covers, front cover detached and rear cover loose, with cover over spine not present. Close-cropped margins, affecting only a small loss on some of the headings at the top of some pages. Some foxing and sporadic light dampstaining. Needs to be recased in period style, or to preference. MDXXX on the title page. Printed in German black-letter. The third (?) edition, and printed during Luther's lifetime.
