Vol. 1 - 85 (lacking v.4, 56, 57). 82 octavo volumes, bound in contemporary half leather, many volumes rebacked (in leather, and in good and strong bindings. It comprises H.Walpole s Letters about Chatterton, articles on the Rowley controversy, Contributions by Isaac Reed the Shakespeare scholar, Wordsworth s earliest poems appeared in these columns, reviews of Byron s Corsair, Coleridge s Christabel, and Keats´Poems were first reviewed. Many original prose works were also published, and a special section of THEATRICAL INTELLIGENCE was an important monthly review of the stage for over forty years. Also in the quarrel with Quarterly Review in the later volumes European Magazine has been in the center of literary discussion. E.M. did maintain the high level of quality throughout the more than four decades of its eistence. With engraved frontispieces and hundreds of engraved illustrations, maps, etc., which are practically all present. The volumes are clean, and printed on handmade paper.
