Original edition of a fine emblem book by the Bruges canon and arch-dean Antonius a Burgundia, also published in a Dutch version. Illustrated with an engraved title by Th. J. van Merlen and 50 engraved emblems by Andreas Pauwels, all after A. van Diepenbeek. The work systematically contrasts Vanity and Truth. Ownership entry on title crossed out. Publisher's presentation inscription on old flyleaf bound with at front. Ref. Landwehr 98. Emblem books Leiden 83. STCV (1). BCNI 9195. Funck 284. 1 volumes. Small defaults at spine, later endpapers. Good copy. Contemporary overlapping vellum , flat spine.
