He tells of his days at Tulsa's Gilcrease Institute and how he built the collections and programs for the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center in Oklahoma City, OK. He writes of his dealings with some of the West's wealthiest art patrons. He provides insight into some of Western Art's most colorful personalities: William Leigh, Charles Schreyvogel, Nicolai Fechin, J.B. Saunders, Charles Jones, William Davidson, Joel McCrea and others. His life was threatened, he signed his name to bank loans for staggering sums, moved James Fraser's againg plaster End of the Trail statue 1500 miles, and other events.
