COMEDIA INTITOLATA
sine nomine. Nuovamente messa in luce.
Kl.-8vo (152 x 98 mm). "In this type of play the Jewish characters were poorly developed and are mostly stereotypes. "One of the best example is the anonymous Comedia intitolata Sine Nomine, that, according to Allaci, was first printed in 1554, in spite of the fact that the dedication of the 1574 edition informs us that the play was to be performed for il Carnevale of the same year" (Robert C. Melzi). - Untere Hälfte durchgehend stark wasserfleckig. Corrigan 5; Brunet II, 178; Edit 16 (Online Kat.) CNCE 12864; DBI LXIII, 371. The unveiled anonymous author depict in his Italian five-act comedy the plight of the Jew or convert Alonso, who was forced to flee from Barcelona and settles in Italy where he changes his name for fear of persecution by the Inquisition. "One of the best example is the anonymous Comedia intitolata Sine Nomine, that, according to Allaci, was first printed in 1554, in spite of the fact that the dedication of the 1574 edition informs us that the play was to be performed for il Carnevale of the same year" (Robert C. Melzi). - Heavily stained in lower half of text throughout. - Modern boards.
