Compositions by John Flaxman, Sculptor, R.A. from The Divine Poem of Dante Alighieri, containing Hell, Purgatory and Paradise, with Quotations from the Italian, and translations from the Version of The Reverend H. Boyd , to Each Plate.

Longman, Hurst, Rees, and Orme, London 1807 - This unique book is an accumulation of several different editions of this book, illustrated by Flaxman. Other editions bound into this book are: Bohn, London 1854; Batelli and Fanfani, Milano, 1823; All of the illustration pages from these editions seem to be bound into this single book, the smaller sheets being professionally. However, lacking copies of the original bound books by themselves, I cannot verify this. 3/4 leather with five raised bands and decorated compartments. T.e.g. Unpaginated, see notes. Well-illustrated. Binding is Hardbound. VG-, slight foxing here and there. Art library bookplate. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
