In French. 2 volume set of the Memoirs of James FitzJames, 1st Duke of Berwick, Marshall of France. This set was owned by Lieutenant John Spurling, Royal Engineers, who served at Waterloo (his name and details are neatly inscribed in both volumes). It is an ex-library set with very good unworn library bindings. There is some foxing to the very edges of the pages (ie visible more when books are closed) and some browning and light foxing to the first couple of pages of each book, front and back. There are the remains of library labels on the first inside page and references in gilt on the spines and in ink behind the title pages. Very sound bindings, Nice clean and unmarked text. Both are attractive copies. Posted next day (M-F) by recorded delivery from the UK. Photos on request via email. [Publisher: Moutard]
