Bookplate of Willis Bund to front pastedown. 76, 320, 331-663, 668-772, blank leaf, 773-931 pages. Register and text continuous despite pagination jumps. Collated complete. Title page a little stained. This volume contains the original work (up to page 772) published in 1574 plus the part published in 1577 convering books 15-18 (published without a title page). Folding woodcut family tree in good order. Some mild waterstaining towards the end. Commentary on the laws that Justinian's Digesta cite as coming from the nine books of Quaestiones of Sextus Caecilius Africanus. Device of Johann Gymnich III on t.p. (fish-tailed Pegasus, scepter, stork, here in oval frame with mask and two unicorns at top and chiffre at bottom; frame includes the motto Discite iusticiam moniti); a different version of the central theme, unframed and without motto, on final page.
