Pieter Vander Aa, Leiden 1704 - ALSO BOUND WITH 'Vervolg der Tien-jarige Scheeps-Togten en manhaste Krygs-Bedruyven door Nuno Da Cunha'. A large folio bound in modern dark olive green morocco, gilt ruled. Spine elaborately gilded with raised and gilded bands. Some minor scuffing. Upper joint showing some very superficial cracking of about 1-2 inches from the head of spine. Green silk doublures with inner gilt dentelles. Bookplate of militaria collector Henk Visser to free front endpaper verso. All edges gilt. Illustrated with many engravings in the text. Some light foxing and toning throughout. First work - Four maps on two folding sheets, title page, 104 columns (two to a page), 3 page index (index a little foxed). Maps with some minor miscreasing along folds but otherwise in very good order. Followed by second work - Four maps, again on two folding sheets, title page, 224 columns (two to a page), 5 pages index + (1) page. Third work - Four maps, again on two folding sheets, title, 230 columns (two to a page), 4 page index. Minor small tissue repair to short closed tears to blank portion of one map sheet. Overall a very presentable volume with three portions of Barros' longer history of early Portuguese imperial expansion 'Décadas da Ásia' ("Decades of Asia").
