Dibdin notes in his commentary on the History of Rome no collection is perfect without this title [see: LIBRARY COMPANION p.138]. Ex-library, bookplates on front pastedown, Rome bookseller label, plates unmarked, extra-engraved title remargined at fore-edge, moderate text age-toning, marbled endpapers and matching edges, elaborate gilt fillet motifs at borders back and front covers, raised bands, black leather spine labels printed in gilt, extremities except for backstrip show shelf wear.
