CIVIL WAR] [UNION CORRESPONDENCE] [ANONYMOUS] .
Camp life, Alexandria, Virginia, and manoeuvering just before the Seven Days' Battles, as described in fragments of two autograph letters, 25 November 1861from Camp Barnes, Halls Hill, [Virginia], and 22 June 1862 from "Camp near New Bridge, Va.," both to "Dear Sister."
- 8vo. 8 pages, approximately 1500 words. "[In Alexandria] we first went to the seminary, a very fine building built of brick and quite ornamental outside . we went up in the observatory from which could be seen the country for miles and the scenery was well dotted with camps . we went into the Marshall House; of course it is badly cut up, the stairs on which Ellsworth fell are entirely cut away . [later on picket near Mechanicsville] the village (five or six houses, a few shops, barns, etc.) of Mechanicsville is as pretty a place as I have seen in Virginia, trees very thick." Folded. Very good. Price for the pair.
