He acknoledges the "valuable information and assistance" derrived from the work of Mr. Beaufort of the Bengal Civil Service, whose Digest of the Criminal Law of the Presidency of Fort William, &c. had been published ion 1846. Baynes himself seems to have produced a work of authority.
