Alexandri de Ales (Alexander of Hales), Universae Theologiae Summa in Quator Partes ab ipsomet Authore distributa, Published by Apud Franciscum Franciscium, Senensem (Venice), 1575. 4 vols.; 9 x 12 1/2 inches; Vol 1: 1 ffep + Index (1576) consisting of A - G (6 leaf quires) + 2, and Pars Prima, A - Y (8 leaf quires) + Z (6 leaf quire) + Aa (4 leaf quire) + 1 rfep. Vol. 2: AA - CC (6 leaf quires) + Aa - Ffff (8 page quires) + 1 rfep. Vol. 3: a (6 leaf quire) + b (4 leaf quire) + A - Oo (8 leaf quires) + Pp (6 leaf quire) + 1 rfep. Vol. 4: 1 ffep + a (6 leaf quire) + b (4 leaf quire) + A - Mmm (8 leaf quires) + 2 + 1 rfep, several pages towards end with small worming in lower foremargin. All volumes wide-margined with clean pages and clear imprints on good paper and full of beautiful decorated initial capitals; scattered age toning, each with small stamp of Bibliotheca Pusieana, Oxon. and small ink inscriptions to title pages, also stamp on front pastedowns; bound in contemporary limp vellum now a little soiled, vols 2, 3 and 4 with handwritten author and Tom. number, Vol. 1 possibly rebound near contemporary (possibly when index appeared), some cracks to spines of other volumes, Vol. 4 with a few small areas of loss to vellum at head of rear hinge.
